My Roberto Clemente Tribute Page

This is my sport's hero, Roberto Clemente, the Great One. He played for my favorite team when I was a bit younger, the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pirates from 1955 to 1972, when he met an untimely death on New Year's Eve, 1972, while taking much needed supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. He finished his career with a double, collecting his 3,000th hit in his last career game. He became the first Latin American player inducted into The National Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York. He was also only the second player for whom the five-year waiting period was waived since the initial inductees entered the Hall in 1937 (Joe DiMaggio was the first).
He was a tremendously skilled baseball player and a great humanitarian who will never be forgotten by his family, his fans or the people of his native Puerto Rico.
